2009 wrapped up in a rather bittersweet manner for all three Assassins squads. See below the recaps for details on snow rugby and indoor training.
After getting off to an incredibly slow start, the Assassins Premier XV took proper form after the turn of the season. Finishing the year off with a 7-2 run, they came up just short in the semi-finals, losing to the would-be champion Wasps after conceding a late score to let the game slip to 23-18. Our seconds XV experienced a similar streak near the end of the year, with a highlight win over the (until that point) undefeated Wasps II. With results like these being posted well into September, expect the Assassins to come out on the front foot next spring. Team of destiny, k.w.i.
Vying for their third provincial title in 4 years, the Assassins women put up a solid win over the U of M/Wasps in the Women’s division semi-final, only to lose a tough contest to the Wanderers.

Recap: Penalties and suspect kicking nullified what was otherwise an excellent effort by a young Assassins pack. The backline continues to gather their rhythm, and looked particularly cracking during certain phases. With the injury bug slowly succeeding and veteran presence making its way back into the side, the Assassins move into next week on the front foot to face the Highlanders.Thursday, March 22
